Avaak Launches Vue Personal Video Network; Camera System To Enhance Consumers’ Lives
Simple to Install, System Allows Users to “Vue” Their Lives Remotely in Real-Time over the Internet
Palm Desert, CA
March 2, 2009

At DEMO 09, Avaak, the industry leader in easy-to-use video mesh networking technology today launched its Vue™ personal video network. Combining real-time remote video viewing and Internet connectivity, the wire-free Vue system visually connects consumers to their homes, families, friends, and businesses over the Internet.

For consumers who have often wondered what’s happening around the house while they are away, but don’t know the first thing about setting up a remote webcam or traditional monitoring system, the Vue personal video network is the answer. Vue is a network of small, battery-powered wireless cameras whose “peel and stick” magnetic mounts allow them to be placed anywhere. Using a proprietary ultra-low power wireless network technology to maximize battery life, the cameras can transmit an estimated one million frames on a single battery. The cameras have a range of up to 300 feet, which can be easily extended with optional repeaters.

With cameras in place, consumers simply log onto their private VueZone online account to begin viewing. From VueZone, users can easily access and manage feeds from every camera in their home. The feeds can also be recorded, scheduled and even shared with family or friends, which make holding a live video event as easy as logging onto the site. The VueZone site features a Flash user interface, which functions and feels like a standalone application with drag-and-drop capabilities. Since the system is browser based, consumers can view their home or business from any laptop or Flash-enabled device.

“Just as YouTube is ubiquitous for sharing life’s memorable moments, and Google Earth forever changed the way we view our planet, we believe the Vue personal video network will transform the way consumers use remote video viewing in their daily lives,” said Gioia Messinger, founder and CEO of Avaak. “The convenience, low cost and unprecedented flexibility of the Vue system combines to create a lifestyle accessory few families or businesses will want to be without. The system complements consumers’ busy lifestyles by providing an easy way to stay in touch with your home and business, while also offering a tremendous peace of mind when traveling.”

Unlike traditional systems or today’s IP cameras, the Vue personal video network can be installed in seconds, with no software to load, cords to connect or home networks to configure. A few of the additional features include:

  • The ability to upload and share video or still images to popular social networking sites such as Flickr and YouTube among others
  • The ability to quickly mount Vue cameras anywhere and yet move them from room-to-room at a whim
  • The ability to easily add more cameras to the network with the push of a button; the system comes with two cameras and additional cameras can be purchased separately for $99
  • Two gigabytes of storage online
  • One year battery life under normal use

Retailing at $299, the Vue personal video network will begin shipping in early summer 2009. Pre-orders can be placed now on Avaak’s Web site at www.VueZone.com.

DEMO 09 will be held March 1-3 at JW Marriott Resort & Spa in Palm Desert, Calif. Media interested in speaking with Gioia Messinger or another Avaak executive are encouraged to drop by the booth at Pavilion Station No 2. or contact Abby Lurie at (303) 877-0738 to arrange a briefing.
